Getting to uni

Bankstown train station is a short walk from campus and is serviced by the T2 and T3 lines.

Bankstown station is also wheelchair accessible with a portable boarding ramp. There are lifts, payphones, and toilets at this station.

Buses stop right outside the Bankstown City Campus and at the Bankstown Transport hub.

There is no on-campus parking but there are nearby carparks located within a short stroll, including both paid and free options. Please visit Canterbury Bankstown Council for more information. 

To help you get around Bankstown a little easier, we’ve introduced a walking bus on Bankstown campus for interested Western students and staff. What is a walking bus? It’s a group of people forming together to walk safely from Bankstown campus to the train station.

The walking bus will leave campus 10 minutes past each hour  –  you can meet the 'bus' at the ground floor Concierge. To learn more, call Campus Safety and Security on 9772 6444.

If you prefer to bike it into uni, there are bicycle stands available on Rickard Road.

Learning Spaces

The learning spaces are technology-rich and support high levels of interactivity and engagement. They are flexible, adaptable and reconfigurable. High tech facilities will support teaching and provide an opportunity to showcase our educational use of technologies and research.

Specialist learning spaces will also fill a multi-function role as general teaching spaces. Use of these designated skills labs will be optimised to ensure efficient space utilisation.

Library

Bankstown City Campus Library provides access to the print and electronic resources you need for your teaching, research and studies

Catering to both the social and silent studiers Bankstown City campus library fosters learning. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff are there to support the different ways you want to study and learn including Library Study Smart assistance.

The Library level hosts all your essential study services such as,Mathematics Education Support Hub (MESH),Peer Assisted Study Sessions(PASS) & MATES.

Informal Learning

The building will provide extensive informal learning and social spaces for students and social and collaborative spaces for staff and partners.

Active social spaces will be incorporated throughout the building as well as an engaging function and events facility. We will continue to utilise agile workspaces, open-plan design and flexible meeting spaces.

The Bankstown City Campus is located at 74 Rickard Road, Bankstown.

Students who are required to move from one campus to another and have purchased an annual parking permit can apply for a refund. For a pro-rata refund to be processed for these staff and students, please advise them to return their parking permit and a copy of this email to the following address:

Upon receipt of your parking permit a refund will be processed.

Please allow 2-4 weeks to receive the reimbursement. If payment was made via credit card via our online payments system, the funds will be reimbursed to the same credit card.

Student printers are located on levels 1 and 4. To print we use follow me printing, that is select print, go to any printer in the building sign in and collect print jobs.

There will be a number of food outlets on the ground floor and surrounding buildings adjacent to Paul Keating Park.

Western Sydney University is occupying the Ground Floor, level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7, with additional staff offices on levels 8 & 9. A link to floor plans will be added closer to opening in early 2023.

The Library on level 4 is furnished with 11 desktop computers for student use, five can be found situated in the silent study area, while the remaining six are located withing the quiet study area.

Guided by the University’s Indigenous Elders Advisory Committee, the existing Milperra campus’ ‘Wall of Hands’, a 5-metre brick wall of Indigenous graduates’ painted handprints over the past 40-years, was carefully taken apart to allow its incorporation into Western Sydney University’s new Bankstown CBD campus.

All original handprints on the wall were carefully scanned and transferred to a new steel work in collaboration with industrial artist Anton Grimes. The new work has now been installed at the heart of the student hub in front of the new Badanami Centre on Level 3.

All pieces of the original Wall of Hands will be used in the gabion walls forming a key component of the Yarning Circle on the terrace of Level 3. Construction work on the Yarning Circle is currently in progress.

All of the courses currently taught by Western Sydney University and The College at the Bankstown Milperra Campus will be taught at the Bankstown City Campus.

Yes, there will be a library located on Level 4 of the Bankstown City Campus.

The access room is located on Level 4 room 1.4.18.

There are lockers located on levels 1-7 to accommodate your personal bags, clothes and or other items requiring a daily secure storage. Lockers are available for a 24-hour period. Any item left in the locker will be removed by Security and taken to lost and found. For more information on security and lost and found.

There is free all-day parking at Bankstown Central shopping centre, a short stroll to campus as well as a range of parking options in the area.

Yes, it is a bring your own device (BYOD) campus. The campus offers innovative learning spaces, group study booths, individual study space, high-speed Wi-Fi, and lots of social spaces, equipped for you and your device.
