Industry and Student Engagement Activities

Industry partnership and engagement is a core activity of the School of Business and the wider Western Sydney University community. Our strong relationships with industry partners from a range of businesses, not-for-profit organisations and the public sector ensure that our students and staff can apply their knowledge to make real world impact. The School of Business is committed to driving innovation and collaboration through our vast and growing industry partnerships with many industry partners benefiting from the research conducted by the School.

There are several ways that industry partners can engage with the School of Business, whether that be through offering internships, student projects, guest lecturing, advisory panel membership, consulting projects or commissioned research.

Industry engagement occurs in many forms, including:

Our Business School offers both paid and unpaid internships for students across a range of disciplines including accounting, economics, finance, hospitality management, human resource management, international business, management, marketing, property and sports management. More information about internships can be found here

Provide practical hands on work integrated learning opportunities to students to build graduate employability as students work on your business or consultancy project to solve a real world business problem. Students are supervised by an academic staff member in the specific discipline area of the business project.

The External Advisory Committee (EAC) is made up of regional, national, and international leaders in a range of fields and activities. The overall purpose of this committee is to provide advice and direction on the School’s Education and Research agenda along with facilitating and developing the School’s engagement with the broader business and related community. The EAC will primarily act as an advisory board to provide collegial advice and hands-on assistance to help the School achieve its objectives.

We encourage industry partners to be involved in our Professional Career Units employability events; an initiative designed for students to give them greater employability skills and make wise choices about their future career. Industry partners can hold a stall , workshop, provide a keynote speaker or sponsor a networking event.

The School of Business recognises high achieving students at their annual awards evening where students are presented with industry sponsored awards and prizes.

Industry partners offer a range of philanthropic and sponsored scholarships to our School of Business students to support their studies.

Academic staff in the School of Business have specialised expertise to  collaborate with industry on targeted research and/or consultancy projects.

Industry partners are able to offer research scholarships and awards to School of Business research students (Master of Research, Master of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy) to study an area of interest  or solve a specific business problem.
