Request for Transfer
This category of application is for Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents only. All International applicants are to apply via the Western Sydney University International Office.
Western Sydney School of Medicine will consider transfer requests from those who are currently (or have previously been) enrolled in a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent at a university within Australia or New Zealand. If you have only ever studied medicine at an overseas university, you should apply via the standard pathway.
This category is not eligible to apply to Western Sydney School of Medicine MD via any other pathway.
Criteria considered when assessing transfer requests include:
- Reason(s) for wishing to transfer
- Academic standing – applicants must be in good academic standing (transcripts required)
- Agreement of both medical Deans (where applicable)
- Availability of a place in the Western Sydney medical program.
If the above criteria are assessed favourably, a transfer can be offered. In such circumstances, the student's completed record of study in the program would be assessed to determine which year they will be placed in at Western. Whilst it may be considered, there is no guarantee of academic credit.
Western Sydney Medicine does not have a specific quota to accommodate transferring students.
