Course structure
This course requires successful completion of 240 credit points which includes sixteen core units, eight elective units which can be chosen from any discipline available at Sydney City Campus.
Students undertaking a major (Mobile Computing or Networking) need to complete the specific major units in place of some elective units.
Course overview
The Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is a professional course that will provide you with solid skills and a knowledge base in ICT.
It will provide you with the skills to apply practical solutions to ICT including systems analysis and design, application development, program design, networks, web development and the implementation of technology.
Recommended sequence
At Sydney City Campus, you can complete your three year bachelor’s degree in as little as two years and enter the workforce sooner. A bachelor’s degree usually consists of 24 units. With our flexible academic calendar, you can study 12 units in one year over three sessions. However, we recommend that you undertake a maximum of 3 units per session so that your study load is not too demanding. You will have less downtime between sessions so a lighter study load will help you to have a better chance at passing all of your units.
The units below are recommended for students starting their course in Session 3, 2020.
The Mobile Computing major covers theories and technologies used for the development of distributed applications for hand-held mobile devices. You will understand the advanced principles related to mobile hardware devices, data storage and transmission, and communication networks. In addition you will identify, analyse, and formulate solutions to real-world problems in the mobile domain.
Important Note
This major is also offered with a Bachelor of Information Systems.
The Networking major provides in-depth knowledge for the analysis, design, and implementation of networked systems. You will develop the technical skills needed for the management and secure operation of a broad range of systems, including LANs, WANs, wireless networks, distributed systems, and large heterogeneous networks.
Important Note
This major is also offered with a Bachelor of Information Systems.
