Anton du Toit
Position
Adjunct Fellow
Biography
Dr Anton du Toit is an early career researcher, holding a PhD in Computational Epidemiology from Western Sydney University.
Anton’s research uses smartphone data to investigate mental health, taking in both mental illness and psychological wellbeing. His research has combined both actively collected data such as ecological momentary assessments and passive data such as GPS and accelerometer streams and smartphone usage metadata. His hope is to use these data sources to find real-time digital markers of mental health—not only the presence or absence of mental illness, but also the critical points and transitions within a temporal trajectory.
His doctoral thesis was one of the first pieces of research to use smartphone passive data to investigate broad-spectrum psychological wellbeing.
