Lifestyle and surgical therapy for management of obesity and obesity-related diseases

A new program of lifestyle and surgical therapy for management of obesity and obesity-related diseases has been established at Blacktown Hospital and Western Sydney University. This is a collaborative multicentre project between Blacktown, Westmead and Nepean Hospitals.

The overall aim of this research program is to investigate what factors determine weight gain and how diet or gastric surgery improve metabolism, and physical and mental health.

The study in title “Relationship between Metabolic disease, Inflammation, Microbiome & Obesity (MIMO)” has just received WSLHD HREC approval.
