Unlocking the potential in every student.
We believe in unlocking the potential in every student. In partnership with select high schools throughout Western Sydney, the Fast Forward program encourages students to see the value in becoming lifelong learners. Guiding students through various educational pathways, the program helps students aspire to complete their senior school studies and pursue post school educational opportunities, empowering students with the understanding that they possess unlimited potential.
By building student confidence and academic ability, the program aims to increase awareness of post-school educational opportunities, promoting the benefits of lifelong learning and highlighting the career paths it can lead to.
The program is a culmination of engaging events and activities tailored to specific year groups, commencing in Year 9 and continuing through to the completion of Year 12. Students begin their journey with the Welcome to Western Evening, followed by on-campus university days in Year 9 and 10. Acknowledging the integral role families play in supporting a young person through high school, we touch base with families in Year 11 through on-campus information sessions. Finally, Year 12 students have the opportunity to experience the Future Student Engagement (FSE) Year 12 Conference, an exciting, jam-packed day, full of interactive activities and academic presentations.
Fast Forward Year 9
Starting off with our Welcome to Western Evening, students and their families are welcomed to the Western Sydney University community and informed about the exciting opportunities that lie ahead over the next four years.
Students will also be invited to attend our Year 9 University Day at their local Western campus and see first-hand what university can offer them.
Fast Forward Year 10
In Year 10, we focus on continuing to build confidence and transferable skills for students.
At our Year 10 University Day, program participants will have the opportunity to explore university facilities and interact with current students who will share their real-world, personal experience studying at Western Sydney University.
Fast Forward Year 11
Students will have the opportunity to take part in one-on-one sessions with program staff to further discuss career aspirations and study pathways.
Throughout the year there will be opportunities to speak with current students, academics and professional staff and explore the range of courses available to study at Western Sydney University. To reconnect with students and families, on-campus Year 11 information sessions are held, covering information like early entry pathways, scholarships, and activities to look forward to like the Future Student Engagement (FSE) Conference in Year 12.
Fast Forward Year 12
Students will attend our annual Year 12 Conference and engage with program staff and industry leaders through a series of informative and interactive sessions focused on different career opportunities. Aimed to enhance their knowledge of career pathways and areas of study, the conference will allow students to talk to staff from Student Services, the Universities Admission Centre (UAC), various industry professionals as well as University academics.
To allow students to prioritise final year studies, the program becomes less intensive. Our goal is to provide additional support to students with Western Sydney University’s HSC Study Sessions. Held annually during the September school holidays, our free online HSC Study Sessions aim to help improve exam results, develop invaluable study skills and learn how to construct optimal exam responses. The content is delivered by highly qualified academics with 24 free sessions across 15 HSC
subject areas on offer. These sessions provide a deep dive into key syllabus and curriculum areas, empowering students with helpful tips and effective strategies to analyse and comprehend this crucial information.
Like Year 11, students will have further opportunities to talk one-on-one with program staff through our tailored support sessions.
