About the project

This research is about the kinds of help that make it possible to live in Sydney.

We want to talk to people who:

  • get the JobSeeker payment
  • get the Disability Support Pension
  • earn less than $650 per week and do not get a government payment
  • Parenting Payment Single
  • are seeking asylum

We want to talk to people over 18 years old and up to 65 years old

Talk to us

Do you fit one of these criteria?

Do you live in the Cumberland or Parramatta area? (A list of suburbs in Cumberland is at the bottom of the page)

talkingIf the answer is yes, we would like to interview you.

Your story will help us tell organisations and governments what support people with no income or with not much income need.

You will get a $50 gift voucher if you are interviewed.

Are you interested in being involved? Please put your contact details in the form below:

What happens next?

One of the researchers will contact you and ask you some questions. They will check if you fit the criteria of people we want to talk to. If you do fit the criteria, we will ask you when and where you would like to talk.

We can meet in a place that is easy for you to get to. Or we can talk on the phone or Zoom. We will talk to you for about 1 hour. If you would like more time to tell your story, we can talk for up to 2 hours.

We will not use your name in any report or publication, so people will not know that you spoke to us or what you said.

Who are we?

We are a team of researchers from Western Sydney University, the University of Newcastle, and the University of Melbourne.
