Seminar Details

Seminar 1: Prof Phillimore will present a paper drawing on her research on sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) among forced migrants. The talk will be followed by a workshop to consider the different actors who might have responsibility for designing integration capability policy and practice and the kinds of actions or interventions which may support refugee survivors to live a good life in Australia and elsewhere.

Seminar 2: This seminar will feature two presentations with Prof Phillimore presenting a paper on the integration policy reflecting on her contribution to the development of the UK’s Indicators of Integration which has been influential in global and local debates on integration. This will be followed by a paper by Prof Elgenius looking at the role of civil society in supporting employment in neighbourhoods where there is socio-economic disadvantage and high levels of cultural diversity drawing on recent research conducted in seven neighbourhoods in Sweden and the UK. The papers will be followed by a panel discussion with local settlement stakeholders.
