Senior Research Development Officer

Position Overview

Dr Hutchings assists researchers to attract research funding and coordinates the day-to-day management of research activities and events within the MARCS Institute.

She provides high level support, strategic advice, reporting and briefing to the Director of Research and MARCS Director. She is responsible for identifying relevant and individually appropriate funding opportunities, including Category 1 Australian competitive grant and other grant applications (Category 2/3) for researchers.

She helps to prepare tenders, contract, and WSU internal funding scheme applications; and is responsible for benchmarking, guiding, mentoring and providing peer reviewing throughout the preparation and writing of funding applications from draft to submission stage.

She also co-ordinates and runs weekly peer writing groups for DECRA, Future Fellow and Linkage applications to mentor MARCS ECRS and MCRs.

She develops, presents and hosts research funding related training workshops and activities within the Institute, including the annual Research Impact Competition heat, and co-ordinates agenda and action items for the MARCS Research Committee. She works closely with Research and Library Services staff.
