From the very beginning, babies differ in temperament – and these differences influence how we interact with them and shape their experience of the world. In this session, BabyLab researchers (Dr Antonia Goetz and Sheena Stow-Smith) explore: What temperament is and how it shapes parent-child interaction Extroverted vs introverted personalities – what differences in language learning can we see? How can we adapt our interaction to support different children? Understanding temperament helps us move from comparison to connection – and from frustration to responsiveness.
What Babies and Young Children Know (& How We Know It!)
Babies understand far more than we often realise – long before they can speak. In this session, Professor Susan Hespos explores the science of early learning and reveals how researchers uncover what children know about the world.
