Description |
Saturday - Sunday 10-11th October 2015 The Grace Hotel, SydneyThis industry focused workshop aims to harness rhizosphere-soil-plant interactions to increase farm productivity and resilience of farming systems. Soil health, using a combination of efficient crop varieties that can harness the rhizosphere (areas of close proximity to plant roots) and microbial interactions can increase farm productivity by up to 50%. An increase in crop productivity of this scale is essential to supply the increasing demand for food in coming decades and maintain profitability of farming business. About Professor Yong-Guan ZhuYong-Guan Zhu is the Director General of Institute of the Urban Environment Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His major research interests are environmental arsenic contamination and remediation; environmental microbiology and biotechnology; and plant ecology and nutrition. Prof Zhu will be presenting a talk on "Rhizosphere microbiology interaction and research in China and how it is intended to be used for enhanced food production." |
