CHCSS00114 Entry into Care Roles Skill Set

If you’re looking for a career in aged care or disability support, this is the place to start.

Learn entry level skills to provide client care across a range of community and health services in Australia. This 3 day course will develop your knowledge to provide individualised support that meets the needs of diverse people. Students will understand policies and procedures for infection prevention and control, and learn safe work practices for working directly with clients.

There will also be a unit on communication skills for health and community services.

Become a community and health support assistant with our entry level introduction to the care sector.

This 4 day course provides students with the skills and knowledge to begin working in aged care, disability support, and community and home support services. There will be an emphasis on providing individualised support services when working with diverse clients. Students will develop an understanding of healthy body systems, as well as the policies and procedures for infection prevention and control. Students will also learn about safe work practices for direct client care.

This course is *free under the NSW JobTrainer program for eligible students.

Support roles for the community care sector are in demand. Gain entry level skills to join this workforce with our introductory Statement of Attainment in Community Services.

This course equips you with the skills and knowledge for community care work. Students will learn about safe work practices for direct client care, and the legal and ethical considerations for this type of work. There will also be a focus on providing individualised support services when working with diverse people.

This 3 day course is *free under the NSW JobTrainer program for eligible students.

Duration and Intake Dates

Duration: 3 days

Deliver Dates and Times: Tuesday - Thursday, the fourth week of each month from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Eligibility Criteria

*People undertaking training must meet the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria and fit into at least one of the categories below:

  • a young person aged 16-24 at the commencement of training, regardless of employment status, including Year 12 school leavers
  • Commonwealth Government welfare benefit recipients
  • an unemployed person
  • an employed person who is expected to become unemployed (e.g. companies in declining industries, people whose employment is conditional on immediately undertaking work relevant training, workers who have been stood down or furloughed).

Eligible participants will also need to be:

  • living in NSW or working in NSW
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or humanitarian visa holder
  • no longer at school.

Fees

For those who do not meet the eligibility criteria, fees are set at $289.00 per days tuition i.e: 1 unit equals 1 day /  3 units equals 3 days, etc.
