Advanced Academic English Skills

Divided into two modules, this program is for students who want to polish their English skills before entering university.

Duration: Module A runs for six weeks, and Module B runs for four weeks. This program includes 20 hours of face-to-face classroom time per week.

Entry for Prospective Students

  • If you do not have an English test score, The College offers an English Language Entrance Test.
  • If you've had low scores in reading and listening in the past, you must do Module A first.
  • The entry and exit requirements outlined above are for international students entering Western Sydney University only.

This module is run over six weeks and is for students who need to refine their reading and writing skills before entry in to university. Students who do this program will either have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 and above, but only a 5.5 in reading and writing.

Entry:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5/7.0+ (reading/writing 5.5)
  • TOEFL PBT 560/IBT 82
  • Pearson (Academic) 58 with communicative skill score (Reading/Writing) between 43 and 49
  • The College English Entrance Test 75%

This module runs over four weeks and focuses on providing students with high levels of spoken communication. It is designed to help with fluency, pronunciation and public speaking, and combines well with Module A. Students who do this program will either have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 and above, but only a 5.5 in Listening and Speaking.

  • Pearson (Academic) 58 with communicative skill score (Listening/Speaking) between 43 and 49
