About The College

The College is a not-for-profit wholly owned entity of Western Sydney University. It offers students high-quality academic pathways to study at the University through its comprehensive range of programs, including Diploma Programs, University Undergraduate Preparation Programs, English Language Programs, and Workforce Skilling Programs through The College RTO (90319).

The College is governed by a Board of Directors. Day to day operations are managed by a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The College is divided into two portfolios:

  • Portfolio of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer
  • Portfolio of the Executive Director, Strategy and Planning

Each portfolio is led by a member of The College Executive. 

A Message from the CEO

CEO The College
Glenn Campbell

Glenn has a deep understanding of employment markets, and their emerging skills and capability demands. He has presented at Australian and international conferences on the importance of capability development for employability and the data behind skill trends.

He has led the design and delivery of leadership and learning programs to large corporates across Latin America and the Asia Pacific regions, most significantly in Australia and India spanning, aerospace and defence, agriculture, automotive and logistics, banking and financial services, care, education, sport, and government.

Glenn possesses substantial experience driving business performance through effective leadership, service delivery, continuous improvement, and sound commercial decision-making. He leads from the front and creates a performance-focused environment where staff are empowered to succeed. Glenn has held various board appointments, most notably in public policy, education, sustainability, and manufacturing.

Glenn holds a Masters degree in Organisational Change and Consulting and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

As The College CEO, Mr Campbell focuses on the external environment, including secondary schools’ engagement, government, industry groups, Western Sydney businesses, and the senior leadership group at the University. Mr Campbell also sets the tone for the internal culture and performance at The College.

Anthony Mitri, Deputy CEO

The Deputy CEO Portfolio, led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, manages the education portfolio, comprised of Academic Pathway Programs, The College’s Registered Training Organisation (RTO number 90319) and English Language Centre (CRICOS Code 02851G). The Deputy CEO Portfolio also manages The College’s commercial activities with a focus on industry engagement, and business development. The Portfolio of the Deputy CEO fosters engagement with the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education), Deputy Deans, Associate Deans, and Directors of Academic Programs (DAPS), implements our strategic goals, and ensures our students’ learning experience is of the highest possible standard.

With executive education leadership experience in both Higher Education and Vocational Education, Anthony specialises in business and government development initiatives and transforming education through strategic partnerships and digital innovation. With a proven track record in Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) engagement, Anthony is able to combine his expertise in employability, industry engagement, online curriculum design, educational leadership, and commercial and financial modelling, to deliver sustainable and viable outcomes for large, complex education challenges. An experienced Board member in commercial, industry, government, and education settings, Anthony completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in 2015.

Joel Walker, Executive Director, Strategy and Planning

The Strategy and Planning Portfolio is led by the Executive Director, Strategy and Planning with a primary focus on the development, delivery, and review of The College’s overall strategy encompassing people, business and technology. The Strategy and Planning Portfolio works across all of The College’s business units and with stakeholders across the University.

The Strategy and Planning Portfolio supports the effective and efficient delivery and management of high-quality non-academic operational and support services across all of The College’s directorates and campuses. 

The Strategy and Planning Portfolio has responsibility for The College’s:

  • business improvement and transformational change strategies and programs
  • planning, analytics and reporting
  • management of facilities, information technology and marketing
  • student support and student engagement, including the Student Success Coaching service
  • quality management function
  • major projects
  • product suite, learning design and product lifecycle management
  • governance, policy management, legislative and regulatory compliance
  • risk management and critical incident management
  • business support and administration functions

The Office of the Executive Director, Strategy and Planning oversees legislative, regulatory and governance functions across all aspects of The College and is responsible for setting and driving a wide range of business, student experience and operational strategies, and translating strategy into actionable steps.

Joel’s experience spans service design, student experience and student life, student administration, student wellbeing and support services and business strategy and governance. Joel is passionate about providing a high-quality, inclusive experiences that transform lives and support organisational success. With extensive experience in the education sector, Joel has successfully led the development of new business models and services in a range of contexts. Joel holds a Bachelor of Teaching, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Psychology and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

Students  feel supported and part of the University community. We want to ensure our students have seamless transitions to the University and provide them with unique pathway options. We create connections to equip and empower our staff at The College. We are working towards an engaged workforce with a clear, holistic, and integrated approach to consultation and communication. We ensure that our staff connect with each other, students, the community, and the University. We are connecting them with University Clusters to ensure cross disciplinary and cross sector connections. We also connect them through our governance structure, creating engaging and meaningful interactions.

We create a place and presence as part of the University’s footprint in Western Sydney, and beyond. We want to provide integrated learning spaces to enhance the experiences of our students and to ensure they are connected with other students and facilities. We partner with the community and we establish strategic partnerships to ensure a solid presence locally and internationally. The partnerships we select, connect us with the community and industry. We position The College strategically and constructively, aligned with the strategic direction of the University to ensure a sense of belonging and a strong identity. We are present in the University network to ensure we create powerful pathways and meaningful connections that give all students equal access to quality learning experiences. We work toward Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education (SDG 4) to ensure inclusive and equitable education, and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Revenue Contribution | Efficiencies

We contribute annually to the revenue of the University, connecting students and staff to efficient and high-quality services. Creating additional revenue streams through our various business units will ensure that we are not reliant on single-source funding. This will enable us to support our staff and students and establish a presence within our local and international community. We choose partners wisely and in consultation with the University to ensure optimal benefit. The College has grown its revenue contribution in the past and we intend to continue growing it in the future.
