NHMRC Funding Success: Treatment Of early gestational diabetes Mellitus (TOMTHUMB)

Congratulations to Distinguished Professor David Simmons (opens in a new window) (SoM, THRI) who has been awarded more than $2 million through the NHMRC’s Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grant.

Distinguished Professor Simmons will lead a multidisciplinary team – which includes Associate Professor Kathy Tannous (opens in a new window) (SoB, THRI), PhD candidate Rachel Hicks (SoM) and Dr Mugdha Joglekar (opens in a new window) (SoM, THRI), and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor Research, Professor Freya MacMillan (opens in a new window) (DVC & VP - REI, THRI) – to discover whether the early identification of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in early pregnancy reduces the long-term risks of diabetes and obesity in mothers or babies.
