Associate Professor Milan Piya and his team at the South Western Sydney Metabolic Rehabilitation and Bariatric Program were the winners of the 2024 NSW Health Awards in the ‘Keeping People Healthy’ category, presented by NSW Minister for Health, Hon Ryan Park MP and Secretary, NSW Health, Susan Pearce. At the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Quality Awards a project co-led by Professor David Simmons and Associate Professor Milan Piya on Flash Glucose Monitoring for Post-discharge Care was awarded the SWSLHD Board Award Highly Commended and was also a Finalist in the ‘Health Innovation’ category. And the project led by Associate Professor Milan Piya on Improving Physical and Mental Health in Class 3 Obesity was a Finalist in the ‘Health Research’ category.
