On Friday 31 March 2023, Western Sydney University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon. The MOU provides opportunities to strengthen the relationship with the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) and broadens our capacity in the Middle East and Gulf. The AUB is located in the heart of Beirut, Lebanon and was founded in 1866. It is a teaching-centred research university and is accredited by the commission of higher education in the United States. Currently ranked #2 in the Middle East and Gulf, with a graduate employability ranking of #1 in the region, the AUB plays an important role across the region, and is committed to creating an environment of critical and creative thinking, life-long learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility and leadership. The AUB is ranked #87 worldwide in achieving the UN sustainable development goals.

The MOU was signed by our Vice-Chancellor & President Professor Barney Glover AO and AUB Provost Professor Zaher Dawy. The signing was attended by the Dean of OSB, Professor Yusuf Sidani and School of Business colleagues, Professor Meg Smith (Deputy Dean), Associate Professor Stella Wu (AD International), Dr Ayda Succarie (IAL Middle East and Gulf) and Associate Professor Kathy Tannous. The OSB are committed to providing excellence in all aspects of business and offer specialised undergraduate and Masters programs in business administration, analytics and finance. Through its HDR program, the OSB is particularly committed to innovation management and entrepreneurship, corporate governance, business conflict, inclusive leadership, gender equity, equality and sustainability. The objectives of this MOU are to undertake collaborations in research, activities, publications, joint curricula and mobility projects. We look forward to working with AUB colleagues in the middle east and gulf.
