Academy U Benefits & Opportunities

Opportunities

The Academy U program recognises the hardwork, dedication and capabilities you have developed and put in through your university learning experience. There are a range of benefits and opportunities available to you upon completion of Leadership in Complexity.

Early Conditional Offer

Students who complete Leadership in Complexity and receive a pass grade or above will receive an early offer to study at Western Sydney University, conditional on completion of their HSC/IB. Offers will be provided to students in the September of their Year 12 year.

There are a small number of excluded courses in which students cannot receive an early offer through Academy U. The list of excluded courses can be viewed via the button below. Students can still apply for these courses but will need to do so through UAC or for a different offer round at Western.

Course Credit

Students are completing Leadership in Complexity which is a subject a part of the Bachelor of Creative Leadership. This subject provides students with 10 credit points. These credit points can be applied directly to the Bachelor of Creative Leadership or to most Western courses as an elective.

There are some courses that do not have elective space, check the course handbook for more detail or ask your Academy U project officer.

Students in the Academy U program have exclusive access to two scholarships.

Student Ambassador Role

If you choose to study at Western, you are invited to apply to join our team of Student Ambassadors. Student Ambassadors are current university students who assist Academy U and many of our other programs and initiatives at Western in paid roles. We would love to have you come share your journey through Academy U with future cohorts. You will also be able to assist at Open Day, at Careers Expos, in-school presentations, at community outreach events, and make a meaningful contribution to many programs at Western.

While generally open to students in their second year of studies, you’ll have a fast track to joining the team. For more details on the student ambassador role, email westernengagement@westernsydney.edu.au

University Developed Board Endorsed Course

Leadership in Complexity has received approval from NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) as a University Developed Board Endorsed Course (UDBEC). These courses supplement and extend the Stage 6 curriculum in areas not covered by Board Endorsed Courses. UDBECs are designed for high achieving students and attribute to the students Preliminary HSC. High schools will add Leadership in Complexity to each student’s pattern of study via Schools Online. For more information you can view the NESA website or contact us at westernengagement@westernsydney.edu.au
