Welcome to Academy U
Academy U delivers unique experiences and learning opportunities to inspire and support high potential secondary students to reach their full potential. Students will be intellectually challenged through an engaging four-year program spanning their high school journey through years 9 to 12.
Academy U students will experience our University campuses through hands-on problem-solving days and will have the opportunity to connect with academics while studying the university subject Leadership in Complexity.
Specifically designed to provide students with the skillsets to achieve their high potential, Academy U will support students becoming Western's next generation of global citizens, innovators, leaders, and change-makers.
Year 11 Leadership in Complexity
Welcome to Leadership in Complexity Autumn Semester 2026.
This subject is designed for high potential students in Year 11 and focuses on theories and traits of different leadership styles in cross-disciplinary environments and their application in various contexts. Leadership is examined through multidisciplinary lenses thereby broadening students’ perspectives of leadership and encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and action as emergent creative leaders. Students are challenged to lead in complexity and prepare for unknown futures and skill sets necessary to drive change through innovation.
This online hub is a resource designed for students, teachers and parents/carers as a one-stop shop for everything you need to work through or guide your student/child through their university learning experience.
Autumn 2026 students have received information about accepting and enrolling in Leadership in Complexity. Students need to work through and complete the steps in the Leadership in Complexity Toolkit ahead of Orientation in February 2026.
