Longitude Prize on Dementia

Longitude Prize on Dementia: Semi-finalist

Proud to announce that the research project led by MARCS researchers in partnership with Deakin University’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Institute has been selected as a semi-finalist of the international Longitude Prize on Dementia and will receive a grant worth over $145,000 AUD.

The inspiration behind the project – MemoryAId:Consultation with people living with dementia and their caregivers inspired the concept of an intuitive, easy-to-use home assistant technology that sends reminders and prompts on hardware devices already available at home. The key is to include a ‘human-in-the-loop’ approach to smart technology. MemoryAId is designed to be highly customisable and adaptable – capable of adjusting to changes in cognition and catering to the evolving needs of individuals based on the progress of dementia. MemoryAId aims to enhance support in completing daily tasks, engaging in meaningful activities, and maintaining social relationships – enabling people living with dementia to live independently at home for longer.
