Dr Karen Mulak appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr Karen Mulak appointed as a Postdoctoral Research FellowThe MARCS Institute is pleased to announce that research officer Dr Karen Mulak (pictured right) has been appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow on the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language (CoEDL).

Dr Mulak will work with Associate Professor Paola Escudero, one of the three Chief Investigators based at UWS within the ARC CoEDL, and other researchers, to develop questionnaires and testing tools for bilingual populations.

She will use these tools to examine how regular exposure to more than one language or accent affects infants', children's and adults' ability to discriminate sounds and learn words in an unfamiliar language.

The ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language was launched in September 2014 and draws together the nation's top linguists, philosophers, psychologists and roboticists to puzzle out the complex mechanisms of human communication.

On behalf of all at MARCS Institute, congratulations Karen!
