PROGRAM

11am-12pm - MARCS Research Meeting

Topic: Neuromorphic Perception for Greenhouse Technology Using Event-based Vision Sensors

Speaker: Sami El Arja

It is considered trivial for a human to locate and detect a ripened fruit in a dense and cluttered scene. Several attempts have been made to automate such a task using Lidars or RGB-D sensors, or both. However, these approaches have to deal with such high-dimensional data streams acquired and analysed at a fixed sampling frequency, limiting the temporal resolution of the data and the amount of information processed. An event-based vision sensor is used to address these limitations, which only acquire and process information when an observed quantity changes in an asynchronous way. This talk will present an event-based architecture capable of extracting robust and discriminative unsupervised features and classify objects per pixels in cluttered and dense scenes.

We thank you for your continued attendance at the MRM's and look forward to seeing you again.
MARCS staff and students are reminded that all meetings and workshops have an important role in building and maintaining the sense of community which is central to the success of MARCS as a cooperative and energetic research institute.  Your attendance is both welcomed and expected.
