The 3 Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) is a celebration of HDR research, allowing candidates to showcase their ability to effectively explain their research in 3 minutes.

"An 80,000 word PhD thesis would take about 9 hours to present. Their time limit ... 3 minutes".

The MARCS 3MT winner will advance to the University Finals hosted by GRS on Wednesday, 26 August with a chance to represent WSU at the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition on 1 October against finalists from universities across Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, North-East Asia and South-East Asia.

MARCS Prizes:

  • Finalist: $500
  • Runner-Up: $250
  • People's Choice: $200
