MARCS Workshop: Contracts, IP and Commercialisation (Room 3.G.55 - Building 3)

Andre Urfer - REDI

Hon Dan Tehan, MP, Minister for Education: “Government funding is only one source of research funding. If a project has merit it can also be funded directly by the university, from the private sector or other non-government sources." Oct 31 press release

Research commercialisation can be daunting, but in the context of sharply declining government funding and ever-shifting technological and commercial realities, it can be a powerful way to bring new ideas and change into the world.

For researchers and academics the businesses, people and language involved in the commercialisation journey are a world apart.  The commercial mindset is very different to the way that researchers think, just as a corporate directors’/CEOs’ career goals are very different to the average academic’s.

This workshop will explain the role of REDI Business and its services available to researchers, providing tips how to engage with industry, understand and navigate the legal minefield involved and achieve your goal of undertaking contract research/consulting or bringing your concept or device to market. Part of the session will be a presentation format ideally accompanied by a highly interactive Q&A with REDI’s AndrĂ© Urfer.

Light Lunch Provided.

Please RSVP to Karen Hutchings.
