ICS Member Guides NSW Arts and Cultural Policy Discussion Paper

The New South Wales Government has released the Discussion Paper, Framing the future – developing an arts and cultural policy for NSW, which is the first step in the process of developing the State's first Arts and Cultural Policy.

The Discussion Paper was guided by the five-member Arts and Cultural Policy Reference Group, which includes ICS member Professor Deborah Stevenson (opens in a new window).

The Discussion Paper is a framework for dialogue with the public and the NSW arts and cultural sector and will help inform the NSW Arts and Cultural Policy, which will set out a vision and 10-year strategy for NSW Government engagements with the arts and cultural sector.

Arts NSW has invited the public to review the Discussion Paper, and to provide feedback on it to assist in the development of the Policy.

The closing date for submissions is COB Friday 20 December, 2013.

The Institute for Culture and Society is located in Parramatta, “the place where the eel sets down” in Dharug language,
along the north bank of the Parramatta River. It sits on the traditional lands and waters of the Burramattagal people of the Dharug Nation,
who have been stewards and caretakers of these territories since time immemorial, in what today is referred to as Greater Western Sydney,

and Wiradjuri peoples as traditional custodians and Indigenous knowledge-holders, whose storytelling serve
as historical record, a form of teaching and learning, a way to care for Country,
and an expression of Indigenous culture and identity.
