Congratulations Rachel and Jincy

Congratulations to Rachel Hicks – PhD Candidate, School of Medicine and Jincy Immanuel – Post Doctoral Fellow – for being awarded the two Australasian Diabetes and Pregnancy Society (ADIPS) 2021 Novo Nordisk Research Grants.  Rachel’s Grant is for Educational Research and Jincy’s for Clinical Research.

Both will be working on projects in 2022.  We look forward to seeing the outcomes of their two projects – two young researchers for the future!

The funds will be used to conduct a mixed-methods pilot study project, focusing on the development and implementation of a video on communication methods for HCPs relating to diabetes in pregnancy risks. This will be developed into a paper in my PhD thesis, which as a whole examines Consumer Perspectives of Diabetes and Pregnancy.   Rachel can be contacted on:

The grant will be used to test the validity of blood glucose monitoring in pregnancy. Jincy's study will evaluate the performance of five commercially available blood glucose meters in pregnant women, with a primary focus on the effect of low haematocrit on the glucose meter reading.
