To help you pack

To ensure you settle in comfortably and smoothly, we’ve put together a checklist of some essential items to bring with you to the village. 

  • Students arriving in December to May should note that it will be summer with temperatures ranging from 20°C (68° F) to 35°C (95° F). 
  • Students arriving between June to November should note that it will be winter with temperatures ranging from 8°C (46° F) to 25°C (77° F). 

TIP – Don’t forget to pack coat hangers.

Arriving at Sydney Airport

You may qualify for a complimentary airport pickup service. To see if you’re eligible, click here.

When you arrive at Sydney Airport, you will have the option to purchase an Opal card from selected Sydney airport retailers. Opal cards are public transport tickets that allow you to travel from the airport to your desired location, and then continue to use it on public transport across Western Sydney. Please remember to purchase an adult ticket as international students are not eligible for student transport concession, and fines apply. You can find more details on the use of trains and buses at the Transport NSW Information Page.

If you have an American Express, Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal readers. Just look for the contactless payment symbol. Contactless payments are available on all public transport in the Opal network.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the airport. The taxi stand is located outside the international terminal.

7 min drive into the cultural heart of Campbelltown at the Arts Centre, where you can enjoy contemporary art exhibitions, live performances, and workshops. The centre also features a beautiful garden with public art installations—perfect for a leisurely stroll.

An 11 min drive from campus and you will discover over 400 hectares of stunning native Australian flora at the Australian Botanical Garden. With walking trails, picnic spots, and themed gardens, it’s a serene escape from the city buzz. Don’t miss the garden’s seasonal events and educational programs. 

A 7 min drive on the campus shuttle will take you to Macarthur Square A major shopping and entertainment hub, Macarthur Square offers a wide range of retail stores, dining options, and a state-of-the-art cinema. It’s a great spot for a day of shopping or catching the latest blockbuster. Why not have a bowl at Kingin bowling?

Nestled in the heart of Minto and an 18 minute drive away, Shri Shiva Mandir stands as a serene and sacred space dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. This revered temple offers a tranquil retreat for spiritual growth, community gathering, and cultural enrichment.

Festival of Fishers Ghost is Campbelltown’s signature event held in November each year. This unique festival is inspired by the famous legend of the ghost of Fred Fisher and is rich in community history, dating back to 1956. This unique festival features a fresh and vibrant re-imagined program with new and exciting events popping up across the city throughout the ten-day festival. Up to 250,000 locals and visitors experience the festival each year and explore the unique and exciting activations across the city.
