Dr Shabab Abbaszadeh research interest is developing the AI-Assisted Participatory Tool (AI-APT) to enhance stakeholder engagement and decision-making in urban public space design. This tool integrates adaptive, participatory, and transdisciplinary approaches to create socially cohesive, inclusive, and sustainable urban environments, focusing on Penrith City Centre, Western Sydney.

Zaheer Allam

Zaheer is passionate in exploring trans-disciplinary systems aimed at Sustainable Futures and Urban Regeneration, he serves on UN-Habitat Expert Working Group on the development of international guidelines on people-centred smart cities. Zaheer writes extensively in the areas of Sustainable Development, Smart Cities, Regional Planning, Urbanism, City Planning, Urban Sustainability, Climate Change and Urban Regeneration.

Edward Aung

With a background is in Data Mining, Dr Edward Aung has published papers in proceedings of top-tier data management conferences on "Mining Trajectory Databases for Multi-object Movement Patterns". Research interests include application of ML/AI in engineering applications, energy-efficient framework for building ML/AI for engineering applications, and creating software engineering frameworks for rapid development of such applications.

Rawshan Ara Begum

Dr Rawshan’s research focuses multi and inter-disciplinary areas on socio-economic and policy analysis of environment and waste management, recycling of construction materials, building regulations and ethics, climate change risks & impacts, adaptation, vulnerability, financing, mitigation, sustainability and sustainable development goals. Rawshan served as Coordinating Lead Author of the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report.

Afshin Firouzi

Dr Afshin Firouzi, Adjunct Fellow at the Urban Transformations Research Centre, specializes in whole-of-life asset management, project finance risk, and PPPs. With prior research at RMIT University and extensive industry experience across client-side roles, major international consultancies, and contractors, he bridges academia and practice. Dr Firouzi has published in top journals like the ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics and Journal of Construction Engineering and Management.

Sahar Golchini

Dr. Sahar Golchini is a Strategic and Urban Development Planner. She has worked in many organizations as an assistant and consultant to the senior manager, supervisor of the Implementation of Urban Regeneration Plans and Urban Housing Projects. Dr. Golchini is currently working as the Head of District Office in the Management and Planning Organization of Kurdistan Province. In addition, he has a strong academic background and is a member of Urban Development Associations. She is a research assistant, university lecturer, article reviewer, author of 5 books and several articles. Dr. Golchini has been honored as a Top Researcher for several years and currently focused on the topics of Net-Zero Smart Cities, Urban Resilience, Urban Housing Policies and new solutions to adapt to Climate Change in cities.

Hamed Khezrzadeh

Dr Hamed Khezrzadeh’s Research interests include: Passive Energy Dissipation devices (PEDs), Application of innovative materials (shape memory alloys (SMAs), Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs)) in structural members and retrofitting of existing structures, innovative flooring systems for buildings and bridges, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Micromechanical Constitutive Models of Heterogeneous and Periodic Materials, and Fracture Mechanics.

Erica Magagnini

A specialist in fiber reinforced composite material, Dr Erica Magagnini’s research is particularly focused on improving structural performance of existing structures. Her research interests include assessment and mitigation of buildings vulnerability under earthquake actions; non-destructive dynamic testing methods; damage problems in reinforced concrete structures; innovative techniques for strengthening of structural elements.
