The Urban Transformations Research Centre addresses one of the greatest challenges facing humankind: making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. The Centre’s transdisciplinary teams transcend three interrelated Research and Innovation programs: Systems innovation and demonstration, People-Centred Sustainable Precinct Design, and Resilient construction and infrastructure. The Centre draws on expertise from across Western Sydney University, and within the community, to deliver outcomes based on exemplary demonstration of action-oriented research that will enable impact at scale. We deliver impactful co-designed research in collaboration with our industry and community partners.
Industry
We collaborate with industry leaders across sectors including sustainable infrastructure, urban planning, circular economy and technology to co-develop evidence-based, at-scale solutions.

Our researchers support evidence-based urban policy and program development, partnering with government at all levels on grants and advisory groups. We specialise in areas of urban resilience, climate adaptation, and socio-economic planning to help shape sustainable city policies.
