The Service Health Check is coming to Western Service Areas soon
What is it?
Service Health checks are a collaborative review of a service. The primary intention is to assess current performance and work collaboratively to identify opportunities to improve service capability.
The Health Check methodology has been designed to seek direct feedback from service areas and service users to assess maturity in service provision.
It is a cooperative and simple process to participate in. The framework is guided by our service excellence principles.
The process has 4 distinct steps:
- Discovery
- Workshops & Interviews
- Final Report
- Post review check-in
Why?
There are 3 triggers for initiating a service health check
- Identified by the office of strategy, performance, and risk as an area that would benefit from service improvement (ie Survey data pack results)
- It is requested by an executive staff member
- Leading up to organisation structural change
What’s in it for me?
- Improved focus on building service capability (professional development)
- Understanding how your role connects to the big picture
- Improve morale and engagement
What’s in it for service users
- Ability to give feedback and co-design service
- Opportunity to voice ideas for service improvement
- Improved service experiences and partnerships
- Forum to discuss and be creative
What's in it for the service team?
- Align team members towards service goals to improve connection
- Forum to reflect on service performance and generate new ideas
- Opportunity to receive feedback and further understand the experience of key users
- Improves readiness for change
- Objective assessment of service maturity and opportunities for improvement
How does it benefit the University?
By embedding service excellence principles into our daily practice, we enhance service performance across the university which in turn, cultivates a more positive work environment for staff. This ultimately leads to an enhanced student experience.
