Associate Professor Amir Faraji

Biography

Dr. Amir Faraji is Assistant professor in construction management, interested in blockchain, smart contract, building information modelling (BIM), digital twin, remote sensing, robotics, smart material, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), internet of things (IoT) and emerging technologies research areas. In addition, construction project manager and contract administrator in the client side, especially in the mega projects of the energy sector and petroleum industry who was responsible for project planning including diverse pre-projects' activities: estimation, tender process and bid overviews, selection of the most appropriate contractors and drafting of the contract and implementation. In the meantime, several construction international research in the field of construction contract management such as NSW-GC21 analysis and developing a dispute administration system in the level of portfolio, have been fulfilled.

Areas of Research/Teaching Expertise

Conducting several research projects on energy management, health monitoring, blockchain technology, smart contracts, UAVs and construction technologies;
Supervising Ph.D. and master theses in the field of novel technologies in building and construction management, BIM & digital twin;
Drafting contract documents including general conditions, special conditions, appendices, annexes and attachments;
Main Stakeholders' (contractors, consultants and suppliers) screening, prequalification and qualification in the procurement process;
Administration of delivering several design packages in different phases including conceptual, basic, FEED and detailed design;
Development the estimation system to approximate the time and cost in different phases of project;
Problem solving, flexibility in complex project environments, punctuality, communication and team working.
