The College programs prepare you with:

Study Skills and Discipline-specific Knowledge

In every program, we explicitly teach you the academic study skills you need to be successful, such as conducting research, referencing, citing sources and writing academically.

In the Integrated Diploma/Bachelor and Extended Diploma programs, you will study preparatory discipline-specific subjects such as Chemistry in the Diploma in Science/Bachelor of Science, Physics and Maths in the Diploma in Engineering/Bachelor of Engineering Studies, and Statistics and Accounting in the Diploma in Business.

University-level Skills and Assessments

You will learn a range of tertiary skills needed to excel in your subjects. A number of assessment tasks are set during the term and may include essays, research papers, oral presentations, fieldwork and laboratory practicals.

At The College we assess your academic strengths and areas where you can improve via an early assessment where we provide you with essential feedback to set you up for success.

Highly Skilled Teachers

The College’s commitment to delivering high-quality programs begins with the quality of our teaching staff. Our teaching staff comes from a variety of backgrounds and academic disciplines. Many of them teach both at the University and The College in their specific area of expertise.

Our teachers are all accustomed to working in a multicultural environment and are united in their commitment to provide students with an educational setting that ensures academic success.

Student Support

Student Services Hub is your first point of contact for information, advice and referrals to other services. They can also help with issues including enrolment, fees and applying for a Student ID card.

First Year Experience Coordinators

Every program on every campus has a dedicated First Year Experience Coordinator. The Coordinator not only teaches in the program, but is available to support students with academic and personal advice.

Learning Methods

Students will learn through a range of methods including lectures, tutorials, online and flipped curriculum, and practical sessions in collaborative learning spaces, computer and science laboratories.

The amount of time spent in full-time study varies between programs. On average, students take four subjects per term over the duration of a program, although the number of subjects can vary from term to term and from program to program. The average number of teaching hours is 20 per week.

Full-time students should plan to spend about 35–40 hours a week on their studies, through a combination of formal classes and independent learning and revision.
