Research

As people age their mental skills and competencies develop. Changes in perception, thinking and decision-making occur throughout life and we in the MARCS Age Lab are interested in the changes that occur in old age.

At the MARCS Age Lab, we conduct research with older adults focussing on perception, emotion, thinking, decision-making and action.

Our researchers use the state-of-the-art equipment including eye, face, head, body tracking, tools for evaluating properties of hearing (such as otoacoustic emissions), and methods to measure brain activity, such as EEG and fNIRs.

This equipment and the experiments that we design helps us measure and understand the changes that occur in old age.
