Dennis Chang
Professor Chang is the Director of NICM Health Research Institute and Professor of Pharmacology. Professor Chang originally trained in medicine and later finished his postgraduate research training in pharmacology. His research interests include clinical and preclinical studies of herbal medicine, yoga, and tai chi for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, metabolic disease and dementia.
Chun Guang Li
Professor Li is the R&D Director at NICM Health Research Institute (NICM HRI) and is a Professor of Pharmacology. He joined NICM HRI in 2012, following more than 10 years as an academic at RMIT University’s School of Health and Sciences. At RMIT, he directed the Chinese Medicine Research Group (2007-2009) and led the Herbal Pharmacology and Toxicology group (2008-2012), overseeing research projects, courses, and supervising numerous Master and PhD completions.
Mike Armour
Associate Professor Armour joined NICM Health Research Institute in 2016 as a Postdoctoral Senior Research Fellow working in the area of women's health, with a specific interest in dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain. His background is a mixture of western and eastern medicine, having completed an honours degree in biomedicine before training as a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. Associate Professor Armour is also the Institute's Director of Research.
Deep Jyoti Bhuyan
Dr Bhuyan is a Senior Research Fellow at NICM Health Research Institute. His research focuses on the significant role of the gut microbiome and postbiotics in health and disease.
Phoebe Zhou
Dr. Zhou is a Senior Research Fellow at NICM Health Research Institute, specialising in natural products, cardiovascular health, and mental well-being. As an industry fellow, she collaborates with various national and international partners to enhance product mechanisms and research commercialisation processes.
Genevieve Steiner-Lim
Associate Professor Steiner-Lim is a NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow, lead of the NICM Clinical Research Platform and Neurocognition Laboratory, and HEADBOX Research Group at NICM Health Research Institute. Her research investigates the psychopharmacological effects of complementary medicines on the neural activity of people living with the early signs of dementia.

Keshav Paudel
Dr Paudel earned a master's degree and a PhD from Mokpo National University in South Korea between 2012 and 2017, focusing on herbal pharmacology and inflammatory disorders. He then undertook a one-year postdoctoral research position at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, USA, working on small compounds and a breast cancer project. In 2019, he moved to UTS, Australia, with a two-year fellowship funded by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Foundation (IASLC) in the USA.
Mitchell Low
Dr Low is an enthusiastic early career researcher who previously worked in NICM Health Research Institute's TGA accredited Analytical testing laboratory, as the Acting Commercial Laboratory Manager. Over the last 10 years with NICM HRI, he has acquired cross disciplinary technical skills as Quality Control Chemist, Research Assistant and Technical Office
Suzanne Grant
Dr Suzanne Grant is a Senior Research Fellow at NICM Health Research Institute. Her research focuses on the use and effectiveness of mind-body and biologically based therapies in both cancer and integrative healthcare.
Kamal Dua
Kamal Dua is an award-winning pharmaceutics and drug delivery researcher who has deep roots in research, teaching and industry spanning three nations and two continents. Being a highly motivated researcher, Dr Dua's career is dedicated to improving outcomes in healthcare through his initiatives in formulation and biomedical research.
Mayuresh Korgaonkar
Associate Professor Mayuresh Korgaonkar is a translational neuroscientist and clinical researcher with more than 15 years of research experience advancing precision health through clinical trials, biomarkers and translational research approaches.
Alan Bensoussan
Emeritus Professor Alan Bensoussan was Foundation Director of NICM Health Research Institute at Western Sydney University (2007-2020) and is one of Australia’s prominent integrative medicine researchers with a focus on Chinese Medicine.
