Message from the Director

Welcome to our October newsletter. We have had a busy year with some fantastic research outputs and new partnerships and collaborations underway as you will read in this edition.

Since our last newsletter, we have contributed to international and national conversations about complementary medicine regulation, standards and policy, been awarded competitive government grants, and published prominent research papers for managing depression, period pain, and polycystic ovary syndrome.

This month we also launched under the NICM and Blackmores Institute Scholarship Program two new exciting PhD opportunities to join NICM’s team of world-class researchers in the areas of mental health and herbal medicine.

On 16 November, we will host our 2017 NICM Symposium, Clinical Trials in Integrative Medicine: Challenges and Opportunities, at 1PSQ, Western Sydney University Parramatta City campus. I’d like to thank our invited speakers and our sponsors Complementary Medicines Australia, FIT-BioCeuticals, Deltagen, and Western Sydney University for their support.

Last week, Complementary Medicines Australia held their annual conference and industry awards dinner.I am delighted to report that Judy Jacka was awarded the prestigious Lady Cilento Award for her lifetime achievements and outstanding contribution of over 60 years in the field of natural therapies – congratulations Judy on behalf of everyone here at NICM.

I hope you enjoy our spring edition.
