Besch appointed new ARMS President

The Australasian Research Management Society (ARMS)(opens in a new window) recently announced in Singapore at the 17th ARMS 2015 Conference and AGM its newly elected Executive for 2015/2016, with NICM's Managing Director, Janice Besch appointed as President-Elect.
Fellow elected ARMS Executive includes Merrilyn Larusson from CSIRO as Secretary and Dr Jodi Clyde-Smith, from the University of Tasmania as General Committee Member.
Ms Besch says she is looking forward to strengthening further the society's international engagement and leadership with colleagues, members and industry.
"The Society's strategy is well defined and over the next two years we will be the most internationally engaged we have ever been," said Ms Besch, President at ARMS and Managing Director at NICM.
"The opportunities presented within our Society in Singapore and New Zealand, through hosting next year the International Network of Research Management Societies Congress in Melbourne, and through refreshing our international fellowship offerings with and through our sister societies overseas, will create some very exciting times ahead.
"Since 1999, the ARMS network has grown to involve more than 2,000 people from universities, research agencies and institutes, medical research institutes, R&D corporations, research centres, government departments, funding bodies, industrial R&D teams, service providers, commercialisation bodies and consultancies.
"We look forward to expanding the ARMS network and will be seeking to speak with a louder voice on the important issues, where we are best placed to comment, and where our voice can make an important and unique contribution to policy and debate.
"The support of NICM and Western Sydney University through my involvement in oversighting this critical next stage of the Society's development is both significant and very much appreciated across the Australian research management community," Ms Besch said.
ARMS is a leading organisation for research managers and administrators dedicated to professional development, advocacy for members and promotion of the profession of research management supporting research excellence and the enhancement of the research enterprise. The society operates throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Singapore and The South Pacific.
