Are alternative remedies a myth or do they have a place alongside modern medicine?

21 May 2019

SBS’s new eight-part series, produced by Warner Bros. Medicine or Myth?* examines the diverse health remedies used by everyday Australians to treat a variety of ailments and conditions. In each episode, a panel of medical experts lead by renowned Australian neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo, alongside Family and Women’s Health Expert Dr Ginni Mansberg and Associate Professor in Immunology, Ashraful Haque, will hear the passionate testimonies of people eager to spread the word about their alternative remedies.

Filmed in part at Western Sydney University’s NICM Health Research Institute (NICM), Dr Teo consults with expert researchers from NICM to determine through science and evidence which remedies are perhaps more myth than genuine alternative medicine. NICM’s world-class research facility located in the midst of the Westmead health, education and research precinct provides the perfect backdrop for this fascinating journey into traditional complementary medicine.

#MedicineorMyth eight-week series premiered on Monday, 20 May at 8.30pm on SBS. Watch all episodes at SBS On Demand after they air on Monday nights.
