HSC True Reward: Top tips for acing your early offer application

Have you completed the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and are exploring your options including early offers to Western Sydney University? Taylor Vassallo-Gorman, a recent graduate of the University and member of the Student Services Hub team, shares her expert advice to help you navigate the application process successfully.

1. What are the benefits of HSC True Reward?

Western Sydney University’s HSC True Reward program provides HSC school leavers an added layer of assurance. The program recognises that HSC students are much more than their scaled ATAR, instead looking at a student’s subject performance. Students are assessed on both their HSC results and their Year 11 subject results as part of their university application. Those who receive an offer based on Year 11 results need to successfully complete the HSC.

2.When should I make an application?

Applications are currently open, and the last day to apply for an early offer for 2024 commencement is 3 January 2024. There are four offer rounds, with the first two rounds based on Year 11 results, and the last two on Year 12 subject bands. This gives applicants an opportunity to receive more than one offer and a chance to use their Year 12 subject bands if they do not meet the Year 11 result requirements.

3. How do I submit an application?
Applying is fast, simple and free! Head to Western’s Direct Application Portal (opens in a new window) to start an application. Before applying, ensure you have viewed the requirements for the programs you would like to apply for to ensure that you’re eligible for an offer. Check that the course you're interested in is available under the True Reward program.

4. What are the next steps after I apply?
Make sure you familiarise yourself with the HSC True Reward key dates for study (opens in a new window) to determine the relevant offer release round. For additional information, you can view the True Reward frequently asked questions (opens in a new window) web page. If you have further inquiries or require assistance, contact the friendly Student Services Hub team at 1300 897 669.

5. Learn more at a hangout session
