An Olympian Task: Remaking Cities in the Shadow of Sport

In the immediate aftermath of the Beijing Olympics, looking towards London 2012 and with Sydney 2000 still vivid in the city’s collective memory, Toby Miller examines the effectiveness of sport as a means of regenerating urban life, and its relationships with other cultural activities, such as theatre, museums, higher education, and tourism.
