MUSIC AT WESTERN
The Bachelor of Music offers you the chance to significantly focus and develop your practical skills and theoretical knowledge beyond the scope of the Bachelor of Music degree. The course offers high-level training in music, music performance, composition, sound technologies, music theory, musicology, arranging music and music analysis. You can also combine this with Creative Industries.
The program is offered in well-equipped studios, and in a lecture/workshop/tutorial environment. Skills in music performance, composition and sound technologies are augmented by intellectual, theoretical and contextual studies. Hands-on involvement from music academics will support you as you build toward the production of a major project.

Our program offers new state of the art music facilities and recording studios, which offer students unrivalled opportunities to be the top pick for Australia's music industry. The music facilities are the latest addition to the University's booming Penrith campus, and include private practice rooms, soundtrack rooms and live performance spaces.
Graduates of this course can look forward to career opportunities in teaching (with future study), audio engineering, composition, multimedia, music journalism, and performance.
This degree is exclusively for high-achieving students and will continually challenge you to build on your academic success. Students in the Dean’s Scholars program are automatically enrolled in The Academy which offers interdisciplinary leadership programs, professional development and local and international internship and engagement opportunities for students.

To audition for the degree, book a time through the Interview Booking System. You will be asked to perform two short, contrasting pieces or songs (or excerpts of two pieces) and/or perform one piece and present one or more compositions as scores and/or recordings. Works performed can be covers or originals, performed solo or with accompanying musicians or with backing tracks on your phone.

The HSC True Reward early offer program gives school leavers much needed peace of mind, providing an early offer into most courses at Western Sydney University based on Year 11 or Year 12 subject results.
Applications are now open to receive an early offer to begin in 2023.
