Details

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is undertaken as a supervised program of original research. Ideally suited to those with some research training and experience, the Master of Philosophy degree aimed at the professional development of a candidate. It provides candidates with the opportunity to develop their potential for research, enhance their skills of problem identification and specification, and their ability to develop and present solutions.

The depth of research required for a Master of Philosophy is less than that required for a Doctor of Philosophy. In some cases, it may be possible to upgrade from a Master of Philosophy to a Doctor of Philosophy.

Students with a demonstrable strong research training background or experience are advised to undertake the Master of Research.

The Master of Philosophy is completed within a minimum of 1 year full-time and a maximum of 2 years full-time, or the part-time equivalent.
