TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

Course for Educators

This course aims to equip Educators with VET-specific knowledge and skills that will enable you to:

  • Deliver training in a competency-based learning environment
  • Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills 
  • Design competency-based learning programs and assessment tools 
  • Assess competency-based outcomes

As a student you participate in 10 x 1 day face-to-face classroom workshops held once every 3 weeks. There may be 2-3 additional assessment days. You are then provided with an additional 6 months to receive support and complete assessment activities.

Course structure

The course has been designed in four clusters: Delivery, Language, Design and Assessment.  We start with Delivery as it is familiar to you, giving you new techniques and hacks for effective delivery, and bringing in concepts of competency-based training.  We then build on these concepts across Language, Design and Assessment clusters.

  • TAEDEL402 - Plan, organise and facilitate learning in the workplace
  • TAELLN411 - Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills
  • TAEDES401 - Design and develop learning programs
  • TAEDES402 - Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs
  • TAEASS401 - Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402 - Assess competence
  • TAEASS403 - Participate in assessment validation
  • TAEASS502 - Design and develop assessment tools

*The tuition fees quoted above are the fees for the normal full-time study load of the course (80 credit points) per annum. International students will be subject to a variable fee regime; i.e. enrolled students will be required to pay fees during their course based on the approved fee for each calendar year. Fee changes (if any) will occur at 1 January each calendar year. Students who extend their course past the normal finish date of the course will be required to pay additional fees based on the prevailing fee level. Western Sydney University is a multi-campus institution.
