Things to Know About Our College Programs
All Diploma programs, once successfully completed, automatically place our students in the second year of their corresponding Bachelor degree.
Domestic Students
This 12-month program allows you to study the first year of your chosen degree in a more supportive environment with smaller class sizes and greater one-on-one time with teachers. On successful completion of the program, you will automatically transition into the second year of the corresponding Bachelor degree at Western Sydney University.
This 16-month program allows you to undertake program-specific preparatory subjects alongside the first year subjects of your program, which will help in developing the content knowledge and skills needed to succeed in university. After successful completion, you will automatically transition into the second year of your chosen degree at Western Sydney University.
This program is designed to introduce you to the knowledge and skills needed for the first year of your Bachelor degree in Nursing or Health Science at Western Sydney University. The program provides pathways into a College Diploma program, or if you obtain satisfactory results, guaranteed direct entry into the first year of the corresponding degree at Western Sydney University.
International Students
This 8-month program allows students to Fast Track their first year of study at The College in a more supportive environment with smaller class sizes and greater one-on-one time with teachers. On successful completion of the program, students automatically transition into the second year of the corresponding Bachelor degree at Western Sydney University.

These programs provide pathways into a College Diploma program, or for students who obtain satisfactory results, guaranteed direct entry into the first year of the corresponding degree at Western Sydney University.
Learning Methods
Students will learn through a range of methods including lectures, tutorials, online and flipped curriculum, and practical sessions in collaborative learning spaces, computer and science laboratories.
The amount of time spent in full-time study varies between programs. On average, students take four subjects per term over the duration of a program, although the number of subjects can vary from term to term and from program to program. The average number of teaching hours is 20 per week.
Full-time students should plan to spend about 35–40 hours a week on their studies, through a combination of formal classes and independent learning and revision.

Navigating The College for the first time can be overwhelming, especially with things like enrolment, choosing a timetable and navigating the campus. Thankfully we have an excellent Student Services Team to help our students.

Our First Year Experience Co-ordinators (FYEC) are the go-to people for our students, whether they are after academic or program advice, or have a specific issue they need help with. Our Coordinators are friendly and approachable, and will work with students to help them resolve any issues or concerns. Check specific FYEC’s by program name and campus.
At The College students have full access to more than 180 clubs, sport teams, associations and facilities Western Sydney University has to offer. From trips across Australia, student clubs and societies, volunteer work, sport opportunities and all the great events on campus-including the free food. Find out more!
The student paper is always looking for new writers to join it’s team at W’Sup, and our Student Representative & Participation is open for students who are interested in contributing to and supporting our student council’s and collectives!
We understand people come to The College from all walks of life, and some struggle with personal obstacles such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and a range of hurdles that can prevent them from doing their best. Our team of highly-trained counsellors are here to provide our students with personal advice and support, from academic to personal issues – no problem is too small.

Our team of professional Disability Advisors are trained to help people with disabilities, chronic health conditions and short-term injuries reach their full academic potential. To ensure all students have an equal opportunity to learn, we provide a range of services, such as academic note-takers, transcription of videos/podcasts, training and access to assistive technology. The Welfare Service has professionally trained Student Welfare Officers who can provide advice, support and assistance to students on a range of issues. This may include understanding College and University policies and procedures our students may hear more about or encounter during their studies, like special consideration, review of grade, withdrawal without academic penalty, appeal against exclusion and conditional enrolment, and support at academic, research and/or general misconduct hearings.
The service also includes the provision of a range of practical support to students experiencing financial hardship, and assistance to students in getting information on other matters like Centrelink, accommodation, sexual health and other welfare related concerns.
Food vouchers
There are a number of community agencies that provide food assistance and students should access these services in the first instance. However, students with urgent, immediate food needs, may be eligible for assistance from the Student Welfare Service. Food assistance may be provided as a one-off only.

Textbook Vouchers

Academic Workshops
The College holds a series of regular workshops designed to improve our students’ overall academic performance. We offer classes on essay writing, referencing, skim-reading, literacy skills and more. Our academic workshops are free of charge for our current students.

The College offers career services and workshops for students to keep on-track towards their chosen career path. With classes on CV writing, interview skills and more, our career services and workshops can set students up with the tools to take on employment in their chosen area.
