Biography
My main area of clinical research interest has been in information technology applications in Medicine, especially data sets and quality audit initiatives involving diabetes data collection, analysis and reporting. I developed (with Professor Stephen Colagiuri) the Australian National Diabetes Information Audit and Benchmarking initiative (ANDIAB), that collated diabetes data from specialist diabetes services in Australia and benchmarked results for participants to review their process and outcomes data with peers. My major clinical interests are Clinical Databases and Diabetes in Pregnancy.
I have sat on and chaired state and national committees advising Government and I am a former President of the Australian Diabetes Society [ADS] (2004-2006). In August 2014 I was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Society and an ADS Lifetime Achievement Award for services to diabetes including ANDIAB. In 2021. In July 2021 was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Australian Diabetes In Pregnancy Society [ADIPS]. I received an AM in the Australia Day 2016 Honours List.
