Researcher Development Framework

At the top level, the Western Researcher Development Framework sets out four domains, each with four sub-domains to provide a comprehensive profile of potential areas of development for researchers.

The Framework provides a structure for presenting the training, resources and initiatives across the university in a structured manner, for the benefit of researchers, as well as those who provide research support services.

Descriptors indicate the interpretation of each sub-domain to direct researchers quickly to the information they seek.

For each sub-domain, Capability Statements – from Phase 1 to Phase 4 – describe increasing levels of expertise.

Further, the Framework interfaces with the Graduate Researcher Development Framework thereby creating a continuum for HDR candidates pursuing a research career at Western.
