Students

Choose which way you prefer to pay for parking

Current Western Sydney University students can choose to either purchase a parking permit upfront, or buy a ‘pay and display’ one-day permit from a parking machine.

Consider the following before deciding which option will work best for you:

  • how often you drive to university
  • which campuses you will be visiting
  • what days/times you intend to park on campus
  • your budget
  • if you are travelling by car or motorcycle/scooter

Purchasing a parking permit upfront

To buy an annual or half-year permit upfront, head online and register via our secure portal (opens in a new window). Once purchased, print your tax invoice and display it on your vehicle dashboard. You will receive your permit within 15 working days.

January to June half-year permits become available for purchase in January and are valid to 30 June of the same year.

July to December half-year permits become available for purchase in June and are valid to 31 December of the same year.

Annual permits can be purchased at any time; however, the expiry will remain as 31 December.

Communal Blue bays are usually closer to buildings than yellow bays. A Communal Blue parking permit allows the permit holder to park in a blue or yellow parking bay. You may also park in red bays outside of peak hours (5:30pm to 5:30am, 7 days)

Dedicated Red parking permits are in high demand and are only available via application.  Parramatta South red and red with bollard bays have now reached capacity and no further bays will be available for allocation in 2024.

A Dedicated Red permit allows you to park in the numbered red bay assigned to you, on your nominated campus. It also allows you to park in a blue or yellow parking bay on other campuses.

The purchase of a Dedicated Red parking permit guarantees you a parking bay during peak hours (5:30am – 5:30pm). Outside of peak hours (5:30pm - 5:30am) red parking bays are available to Communal Blue and Restricted Orange permit holders.

Only the purchase of a Dedicated Red with bollard permit guarantees the permit holder a parking bay 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To buy a Dedicated Red parking permit (with or without a bollard), first apply for an approval code. Approval codes are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

If a red bay is not available, eligible applicants will be placed on a waitlist and notified via email as bays become available.

Green parking permits are available by application and allow the holder to park in the newly designated green parking spaces beneath the solar shade structures. These green bays aren't dedicated, so securing a spot isn't guaranteed. However, the good news is that your green permit will also be valid for blue and yellow bays.

These innovative facilities are set to provide approximately 100kw of electricity, contributing to the power supply for our electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and helping to reduce campus heat load. The revenue generated from these permits will support the University’s carbon-neutral certification.

Students who wish to park under the new solar shade structures, as well as the already established solar shade structure at Penrith campus, will need to first apply for an approval code.

Please note that charging stations located in these Solar Car Parks will still be available to all students and staff. Green permits are for non-charging spots only.

Purchasing a daily permit

‘Pay and display’ one-day parking permits are available from the permit machines in our parking areas and are valid for the day of purchase.

Parking machines accept credit/debit cards and cash (coins only).

Ensure that the printed one-day permit is clearly displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle to avoid a fine.
