Frequently Asked Questions

Purchasing

Do I need to pay for parking at Western Sydney University?

Yes. All vehicles parked on Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Penrith and Parramatta (Rydalmere) campuses must display a valid Western Sydney University parking permit in the front windscreen of the vehicle at all times. The exceptions to this are:

  • vehicles displaying a valid Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) permit (the card must be clearly displayed in the front windscreen)
  • motorcycles parked in a motorcycle parking area

Parking at Liverpool is via DIVVY. Please see information below.

How and when will I receive my permit?

Western Sydney University annual and half year permits are sent via post to the address nominated on your application form. Permits will be issued within 15 working days of receipt of your application and payment notification.

If you have not received your permit after 15 working days of the purchase date please complete the Replacement Parking Permit Application Form (opens in a new window).

I no longer need my permit. Can I get a refund?

Refunds are only available for annual and half-year permits that have been paid for upfront. For further information on refunds, please refer to the Western Sydney University Parking and Traffic Policy.

Can I upgrade or downgrade the permit I have purchased upfront?

To upgrade or downgrade your parking permit you will first need to purchase the permit that better suits your needs. Once your new permit arrives, please return your original permit to the parking team for a pro-rata refund to be processed. Unfortunately the online system does not have the provision for you to pay the difference, transfer your permit, or be refunded the difference between the two permits.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my salary sacrificed parking permit?

To upgrade/downgrade a permit purchased by salary sacrifice/salary deduction, please submit a change request form. Select staff as the applicant type, then change permit type from the 'request type' menu. Once Parking have received your application to upgrade/downgrade your permit, they will issue a temporary permit. Please then return your original permit, and the new permit will be issued to you.

How do I get a receipt for my purchase of a permit?

When purchasing your permit via our secure online portal, select "Print a Tax Invoice" on the payment record screen.

A tax invoice will also be issued to the email address nominated on your application once your payment has been successfully processed.

If you forget to print the tax invoice and don't receive it via email, please contact parking@westernsydney.edu.au with your name, student/staff number and type of permit purchased. A copy of your tax invoice will be emailed to you.

Is there free motorcycle parking at Western Sydney University?

Yes, free parking is available to motorcycle riders who park in allocated motorcycle parking areas on our campuses.

If you park your motorcycle in a car space you will need to purchase a permit, but are not required to display the permit. Instead, register your motorcycle and permit details with the on-site security office.

Permits

I have lost or damaged my parking permit. Can I get a replacement?

If you have lost or damaged your permit please complete a Replacement Parking Permit Application Form (opens in a new window).

If a second replacement permit is required, you must submit a Statutory Declaration Form (opens in a new window) with your Replacement Parking Permit Application Form before a second replacement permit is issued.

Will I receive two permits if I list two vehicles on my application form?

No. For a single fee you will receive one permit. Permits are made of electrostatic vinyl and can be easily transferred between the two registered vehicles. Multiple permits can be purchased if required.

How do I update the details registered to my parking permit?

To update your permit record when your vehicle or personal details change, please complete a Change of Parking Permit Details Form (opens in a new window).

Why do I have to register my vehicles to my permit?

Permit holders are encouraged to update their permit records with accurate information so Campus Safety and Security staff can contact you in regards to your vehicle. Situations that will require us to contact you might include:

  • The lights on your vehicle have not been turned off
  • Contractors need your vehicle moved so it is not damaged while maintenance work is performed on campus
  • Your vehicle has been damaged/involved in an accident

Keeping your record up to date with current information means we can contact you immediately should we need to.

What can I display on my vehicle while awaiting delivery of my permit?

If you purchased your permit via our secure portal you are able to display the tax invoice as proof of purchase, on the dashboard of your vehicle for 15 working days from the date of purchase.

Staff who purchase a permit via salary sacrifice/salary deduction will be issued a temporary permit once their application has been successfully processed. The temporary permit will be valid for 15 working days and must be displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle while awaiting delivery of the parking permit.

I have left my permit on my other car. What should I do?

You will need to purchase a Pay and Display one day parking permit. The display of notes does not replace a valid permit and may result in a parking fine.
