Events, Workshops and Programs
The MESH team runs a number of maths and stats events, workshops and programs. Each semester MESH offers drop-in sessions, subject-specific workshops and more. Find more information about what is currently available below.
Need some one-to-one guidance in your maths, stats or numeracy?
The MESH team runs drop-in maths and stats help sessions during the semester as a free service for all Western Sydney University students. We support students from first-year maths and stats subjects as well as subjects from other disciplines that require maths, stats or numeracy.
You don’t need to book an appointment. Join any time during scheduled hours with your non-assessment questions or lecture/tutorial notes.
MESH tutors are available as indicated. Times may change due to unforeseen circumstances. For the latest information, refer to announcements in your Ultra Subject site or the Ultra Companion site Maths Start 0.

- Week 2 to STUVAC inclusive (except intra-session break in Week 8).

Face-to-face
- Week 2 to 14 inclusive (except intra-session break in Week 8).
- Available in Parramatta South, Kingswood and Campbelltown libraries.
- Ask your friendly librarian where the maths and stats space is located.
- Come alone or work with your peers.
- Access maths resources.
- Check when the tutor is scheduled in Maths Start 0.

MESH offers 2 ways to get help.
- If the timing suits, drop-in to MESH Maths and Stats Help.
- Otherwise, write to us at mesh@westernsydney.edu.au. We aim to reply by the end of the following business day.
When contacting us about your maths or stats-related problem, it helps if we can see your attempts or the steps you have taken independently.

- Refresh your maths and stats and general numeracy assumed by your subject or course
- Work through the self-paced modules any time via the MESH Maths Start sites in Ultra Companion Sites.
- Use this Maths Start Decision Tree to design your personal Maths Start programme - the modules you need will depend on your maths background and degree program
- Choose from modules in Algebra, Statistics, Trigonometry and Calculus

The LANTITE workshops are for all education students required to meet the LANTITE numeracy standard. There will be 2 MESH workshops each year prior to test windows 1 and 3.
The Community of Practice (CoP) literacy and numeracy practice tests aim to provide students who are registered to sit LANTITE with a final practice opportunity. These practice tests consist of LANTITE-style questions and are the same length and duration as the actual LANTITE.
Students in Master of Teaching and Bachelor of Education programs will receive an email announcement with details about the workshop and CoP tests. Other students should contact mesh@westernsydney.edu.au to request workshop details.
All Education students are welcome to attend these LANTITE preparation workshops but should be guided by LANTITE advice from the School of Education regarding when to register for the LANTITE test.
Maths Anxiety is a feeling of tension and anxiety that interferes with your ability to do maths. It can range from a feeling of mild tension all the way to experiencing a strong fear of maths. It is very common.
The good news is that you can do something about it.
MESH presents occasional free workshops to help you understand and reduce your maths anxiety. See the slides from the Maths Start Refresher short seminar How to manage maths anxiety or contact Counselling service.
MESH runs subject-specific workshops to help you prepare for in-session assessments and final exams. Look out for announcements in your Ultra Subject site for details of the support provided in your subject.
