University Services

Student Wellbeing Services

Counselling Service (opens in a new window) – A free and confidential service staffed by qualified psychologists and social workers.

Disability Service (opens in a new window) – Disability Advisors can assist students with disabilities, temporary injury (such as a broken arm) and chronic health conditions to meet their potential.

Welfare Service (opens in a new window) – Welfare Officers can provide guidance around University processes and policies and support with financial hardship, accommodation and student visa enquiries.

Multifaith Chaplaincy (opens in a new window) – Chaplains can provide confidential conversation and care, support for stress management and anxiety, and links to religious groups and faith communities.

Academic Support

Academic literacy workshops (opens in a new window) – Free two and four-day workshops are available at different times throughout the year. Develop skills in essay writing, critical analysis, note taking and assignment preparation.

Study Smart (opens in a new window) – The Library’s Study Smart Zone provides resources to assist you with assignment writing and study skills. You can also meet with a Study Smart officer via Zoom.

Maths Education Support Hub (opens in a new window) – The Hub provides students at all stages of their degree with Maths and Statistics support.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) (opens in a new window) – PASS are drop-in study groups run by students who have previously completed the unit with top results. You don’t need to register. Find the timetable here. (opens in a new window)

Social Support

WESTERNLife (opens in a new window) – is the University’s social platform and provides information on student clubs and events. This is a great way to connect with staff and students. Log in using your student account details.

MATES (opens in a new window) – is a mentoring program for new students providing information and skills to settle into life at the University.
